Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday evening. The fighter was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge follows the boxing community offered its support for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
