Star Rejects Anti-Vax Stance After Narrating Disputed Pandemic Documentary

Liam Neeson has lent his voice to a new documentary that questions the legitimacy of vaccines and lauds former health official Robert F Kennedy Jr.

The Documentary's Provocative Origins

Called "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is inspired by a bestselling book published by a controversial scientist, who gained notoriety during the pandemic for allegations that the virus was caused by a bad strain of the influenza shot.

The book's writing partner, the executive producer, has previously authored books with far-right radio host the Infowars host. He wrote online celebrating Neeson's participation in the project.

A Firm Rebuttal

Representatives for Neeson have released a comment firmly refuting suggestions that he holds anti-vaccine beliefs.

"We all acknowledge that corruption might be present within the medical sector, but that must not be confused with being against vaccines," the response states. "Liam has never been, and remains not, against vaccines. His extensive work with the UN children's agency underscores his long-held support for public-health initiatives."

The statement continued that the actor was not involved in crafting the film's narrative and that questions about its claims ought to go to the producers.

Key Themes Within the Documentary

In the film, the script provided by Neeson includes several provocative claims:

  • It states that pro-vaccine voices have demanded "unconditional submission" to government bodies.
  • It declares that "science has become highly politicised."
  • Robert F Kennedy Jr is shown saying, "The big problem with vaccines is that they just aren't properly vetted."
  • The film further attacks pandemic restrictions, claiming they caused psychological harm that cost thousands of lives.
  • Concerning Covid vaccines, it cites a view that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "risky trials."

Previous Context and Current Issues

The documentary includes a historical film about clinical trials on children, which was afterwards the topic of a formal apology by the network for violations of guidelines.

Last month, RFK Jr directed the Centers for Disease Control to alter its longstanding position that there is no causal relationship between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is echoed in the documentary, even with a recent study from the World Health Organisation confirming no evidence has been found.

A Previous Position of Endorsement

Differing from the film's message, Neeson has previously expressed strong support for vaccines in his role as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.

Two years ago, he referred to vaccines as "a remarkable human success story," adding that "The conversation about vaccines in lately has forgotten how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in human history."

"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's narration saying, "This marks not the finish of our story. It is the start of a fresh chapter."
