Pressure Won't Affect Me, Affirms Confident Postecoglou

Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou maintains that any pressure regarding his position will not influence his approach.

The club is winless in his first six matches since the coach took over from Nuno Espirito Santo at the club's stadium.

A group of Forest fans shouted, "you're getting sacked in the morning", at the ex- Tottenham and Celtic boss following Thursday's 3-2 Europa League loss at their ground to the Danish side.

Postecoglou's Response to Pressure

Postecoglou, though, mentioned that the Europa League trophy he secured at Tottenham last season, before being sacked in the summer, was evidence he does not allow pressure to impact his coaching.

"I don't think about it," he added. "My responsibility involves making sure this team advances and reaches a position where it can challenge for titles," said Postecoglou.

"If I start setting deadlines to that or worry about what is occurring next week then I am not performing the position I have been assigned.

"I believe it is beneficial to anyone. At the end of the day, I have to concentrate on the environment, the practice sessions, the style of play, and as I said last night, I am remain extremely confident in my belief that we are close to success.

"To explain - I knew I was getting sacked at Tottenham approximately three or four months prior to I was, but that didn't prevent me from winning something."

Career Background

The veteran coach moved to Spurs from Celtic in the previous year and supporters at first warmed to the coach for his offensive style of play, with the London club finishing fifth in the English top flight during his first season.

Postecoglou's second term was challenging as Spurs ended 17th in the standings. He nevertheless, lead the team to their initial silverware in nearly two decades as they beat Manchester United in the European final.

With the current poor run of results, there is little doubt it has been a difficult beginning for Postecoglou.

This campaign could have been one of Nottingham Forest's finest in modern history. Qualification for Europe for the initial occasion in 30 years, the best squad this millennium and all involved working towards the same direction.

Unexpectedly, at least for now, that has completely vanished out of the window. Nuno has departed, performances have been abject and on Thursday night the stadium turned on the new manager Ange Postecoglou after just six games.

And yet it's very much characteristic Forest, a team that shifts from success to self-made disaster like a novice motorist who can't stay in a traffic line.

Future Fixtures

With games against Newcastle, Chelsea, Porto, the Cherries and the Red Devils approaching, it's quite difficult to predict if he can turn it around before it becomes increasingly negative.

But question any supporter and they'll tell you the identical thing, it's never dull at Nottingham Forest.
