Operations Recommence at Edinburgh Airport After Significant Air Traffic Control Outage
Passenger services have recommenced at Edinburgh Airport after a substantial ATC system failure brought the international hub to a standstill.
Every arrival and departure were stopped because of an systems problem that occurred at about 08:30.
Some passengers found themselves stranded in jets at the stand while the issue persisted.
Operations Restart with Continued Disruption
Officials announced at 10:40 that flights had resumed, and thanked passengers for their "cooperation and patience".
That said, significant disruption are anticipated to continue throughout the day. Services bound for key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been called off, with many others experiencing delays.
A spokesperson had initially projected that a significant number of movements could be impacted.
"Travelers are urged to contact their airlines for the latest information on their booked journeys," officials reiterated.
Root of the Disruption
Officials linked the full ground stop to an IT issue with its control tower systems vendor.
Travelers continue to be advised to confirm the details of their trip before departing to the airport as knock-on effects are worked through.
