Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
