Iranian Forces State Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the US has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with notable success and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
