Barça Set to Play Inaugural Game at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou over the weekend. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition two and a half years following their departure so building work could begin.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited but 45,401 spectators are permitted inside under the licence granted. After final construction, the stadium’s capacity will reach almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said completed upgrades featured a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.
Stadium Testing
Barça organized a fan-accessible workout on the home pitch on 7 November. They mentioned they were hoping for permission from Uefa to host the next European match facing Eintracht in December at the stadium. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
