Alarming Footage Shows Moment Police Suffer Blade Attacks in Unexpected Assault
One ranking policeman that leaped to the assistance of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a knifeman was granted the Monarch's Honor for Bravery.
Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-year-old Jacob Brown following he held a knife to the throat of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the law enforcement personnel and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist subsequent to a road collision in that location in summer 2023.
Brown attacked with blade both Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster before PC Wolstencroft stopped him with a Taser.
"Officer attacked," the officer could be heard saying over his communication device.
Bodyworn and dashcam footage shared by the agency depicted Brown, who was dressed in black with a hood covering head, run up to Sergeant Foster from behind with a knife extended.
He struck the policeman who stumbled and fell to the street, before Sergeant Ansell jumped in and attempted to subdue him to the floor even though being continually attacked with the blade.
Police Constable Wolstencroft drew his Taser and awaited a open target, concluding the confrontation to an finish.
Sgt Ansell was heard stating: "Please provide something on my neck now, I got knifed in the throat."
Sergeant Ansell received two deep cuts to his throat and further wounds to his arms and body, whereas Sergeant Foster experienced knife wounds.
Officials reported Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to stem his partner's hemorrhaging prior to paramedics arrived.
The new recognition arrives subsequent to the law enforcement team received internal Courage Honors in October 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the regional officer association in spring 2024.
They further earned a Regional Bravery Award in July 2024.
"The efforts of all three officers in the end saved one another and resulted in no members of the public experienced any wounds."
Brown was given to an secure medical confinement in spring 2024, per the department.
